Remembering America’s prisoners of war and those missing in action
Master Sgt. Angel Jenkins, Transportation Command Patient Movements Requirements Center superintendent, reads the names of prisoners of war and those missing in action, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Sept. 18, 2018. Every year JBPHH holds a weeklong series of events to commemorate U.S. POW/MIAs. The events include readings of the POW/MIA names, a reveille ceremony, beautification of POW/MIA memorial, information tables, sentinel posting, a 24-hour run, and ends on Friday with a POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu. Observances of National POW/MIA Recognition Day are held across the country on military installations, ships at sea, state capitals, schools and veterans facilities. It is traditionally observed on the third Friday in September each year. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Heather Redman)
