15th Wing health and welfare inspection results released

The consolidated local results of the December 2012 Chief of Staff of the Air Force directed health and welfare inspection at the 15th Wing are displayed here. The Air Force released the results of the service-wide health and welfare inspections that were completed in an effort to emphasize an environment of respect, trust and professionalism in the workplace. Commanders inspected thousands of units at more than 100 Air Force installations, where almost 600,000 Air Force military and civilian personnel work. Commanders looked for and removed three broad categories of material: pornographic, inappropriate or offensive, or unprofessional. In total, 32,216 items were reported throughout the Air Force. Of these, 29 were reported within 15th Wing units.

Lt. Gen. Stephen Mueller, Air Force Inspector General, is taught how to review a cell count under a microscope Dec. 12 during a tour of 15th Wing units at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. Along with performing duties directed by the Air Force Secretary or the Chief of Staff, Mueller is responsible for two field operating agencies: the Air Force Inspection Agency and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. The 15th Medical Group consists of a staff of over 250, operating on a $10-million budget and averages approximately 6,500outpatient visits, nearly 9,000 prescriptions, 3,000 Lab procedures, and 900 radiology films per month. LC-130 with skis lands on Hickam flightline

A ski-equipped LC-130 Skibird owned by the 109th Airlift Wing of the New York Air National Guard sits on the flightline Oct. 18 at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The LC-130 is the polar version of the familiar C-130 cargo plane; its ski-equipped landing gear enables operation on snow or ice surfaces throughout Antarctica. The plane also has wheels for landing on prepared hard surfaces. The aircraft is the backbone of U.S. transportation within Antarctica and also provides air service between McMurdo Station, Antarctica and New Zealand. The LC-130 fleet permits Department of Defense support to the National Science Foundation led United States Antarctic Program in a wide range of scientific research on climate change, global warming, ozone depletion, earth history, astronomy and environmental change.
