December 7th Remembrance Ceremony

A photo of a hangar taken during the attack on Hickam Field on Dec. 7, 1941, is compared to the current state of the hangar at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Nov. 10, 2021. On a Sunday morning 80 years ago, the largest airborne attack force ever assembled by the Imperial Japanese Navy struck Oahu's military installations. In all, 189 men died, 303 were wounded and nearly half of the aircraft stationed on Hickam were rendered useless. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Alan Ricker)
