Bone marrow registry drive now through June 5
HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii -- Staff Sgt. Ashanti Richardson and Tech. Sgt. Maylene Little, 15th Airlift Wing executive support, swab their cheeks for the bone marrow registry drive here May 12. The drive will continue through June 5, and one out of every 300 registrants will be a match for a patient in need of a bone marrow transplant. The registry process takes about five minutes, but could mean the difference between life and death for a person with a blood disease such as leukemia.
