3 Airmen headed to Academy

HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii -- Col. Lawrence Roller, the Hickam Air Force Base Air Force Academy admission liaison officer, stands with three Airmen from base who were accepted to the Colorado Springs, Co., academy and are scheduled to depart Hawaii to begin classes in the fall. Next to Colonel Roller, left to right, are Senior Airman Adam Miller, 8th Intelligence Squadron imagery analyst, Airman 1st Class Jason Hodges, Det-1 561st Network Operations Squadron network infrastructure technician, and Senior Airman Keaton Hinners, 15th Civil Engineer Squadron engineer assistant. Airmen Hodges and Miller will attend preparatory school, and Airman Hinners will be a freshman at the academy. According to the AFA Web site, www.usafa.af.mil, the Academy sets aside up to 85 slots for active-duty Airmen and up to 85 more slots for Guard and Reserve members in each cadet class. Additionally, the prep school offers 60 slots for Airmen to join the one-year program, after which graduates will enter into the Academy's next class of cadets. For more information on how to apply for any of these programs, call Colonel Roller at 623-2178 or visit the base education office. (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Carolyn Viss)
