JPAC team returns from Austria
Dr. Jay Silverstein surveys the site his team will be excavating in Vostenhof, Austria, on Aug. 14. Dr. Silverstein is a forensic anthropologist for the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. An 18-member JPAC team, including an explosive ordnance disposal technician and field medic, returned Oct. 1 after 45 days in Austria attempting to recover the remains of 1st Lt. Stanley Dwyer and gunner Sgt. John Boros who were lost in the crash May 10, 1944.
