EOD Air Force Team of the Year
HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii – 15th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal technicians prepare an electronic robot to enter a booby-trapped house on base during regular training June 22. From a distance, the robot controller can use the machine to shoot or detonate anything that may be too dangerous for an EOD tech in a bomb suit to approach. The EOD career field was named Air Force Team of the Year for the first time in 2009 for clearing more roadside bombs than any other service in Iraq and Afghanistan - 1,915, according to Air Force officials.
