Playin' the part
HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii -- Brad Hayes, a volunteer with the Hawaii Museum of Military Vehicles, displays a popular symbol from the Vietnam era while sitting on top of an armored personnel carrier restored from the Vietnam era at the "Wings over the Pacific" Open House Sept. 19. Mr. Hayes is a former Marine Corps corporal and volunteers for the HMMV. The Thunderbirds, U.S. Air Force Demonstration Squadron, were the headliners during the open house. They demonstrate the capabilities the F-16 Fighting Falcon by performing combat maneuvers during their aerial demonstration. This is Hickam's first open house since 2003, and a crowd of nearly 100,000 paid a visit during the weekend. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Mike Meares)
