Tower twinkles in the Hawaii sky

HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii -- Meadow Hardcastle, 8, daughter of U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 3 Eric Hardcastle, wispers in Santa's ear what she wants for Chirstmas Dec. 4 during the Freedom Tower lighting ceremony. More than 5,000 multi-colored twinkle lights make the tower Oahu's largest Christmas tree at 171 feet tall. This year marked the 40th anniversary of the Freedom Tower lighting. Hickam's history reports the Japanese spared the tower during the Dec. 7, 1941 attacks because they believed it was a place of worship. The tower stored more than 500,000 gallons of water.
