Gettin' down and dirty, Hawaiian style

MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII KANEOHE BAY, Hawaii -- Muddy participants gather underneath the spray of the fire truck hose to rinse the mud they collected on the Marine Corps' 16th Annual Swamp Romp Feb. 20. More than 450 six-person teams got down and dirty during the muddiest race of the year, a five-mile obstackle course known as the "dirtiest race fo the year." Some teams dressed for the occasion by putting on their combat boots and strapping them down with duct tape, while others went for a more themed approach. Costumes from jail birds and ninjas to superheroes like Spiderman, Wonder Woman, Super Girl and a group of prom night beauty contestants were not in their best condition at the end of the race.
