HICKAM WARRIOR: Tech. Sgt. Juan Pineda

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR HICKAM, Hawaii – This weeks Hickam Warrior is Tech. Sgt. Juan Pineda, 15th Communications Squadron non commissioned officer in charge of quality assurance. As a QA evaluator, he provides his squadron commander and senior leaders with trend analysis on overall communications maintenance, network operations and training effectiveness for 20 production work centers managing a $44M infrastructure system. Additionally, he performs managerial, personnel & technical evaluations and manages the unit self inspection program for 120 personnel. Over the last year, Sergeant Pineda was STEP promoted to Tech. Sgt. and deployed for 35 days to the Republic of Korea in support the combined Exercise Ulchi Freedom Guardian '09, where he built the Joint Network Control Center and linked 30K+ joint warriors participating in the largest cyber exercise in the world. Additionally, as a Wing Exercise Evaluations Team member, he crafted emergency response scenarios for the 2009 Air Show ensuring the safe enjoyment for 80K attendees. Most recently, he built the Squadron's first Self-Inspection web site; which allows centralized tracking of 20 work centers' key processes and programs. “He is a wealth of knowledge and a pillar of pride and dedication to his unit and the U.S. Air Force.” said Master Sgt. Isaac Newberry, 15th Communications Squadron policy and evaluations sections chief. His favorite thing about being stationed in Hawaii is be the interisland travel. “To date I've been to the Big Island, Maui, Kauai, and Molokai.” Currently, he has been spending a lot of time preparing for his first baby which is due in April. “As a soon-to-be new father, I’ve been able to take advantage of different classes offered by the military to help prepare me for parenthood.” said Sergeant Pineda. “The class that I found most beneficial was the Boot Camp for New Dads, taught by the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) Pearl Harbor.
