HICKAM WARRIOR: Staff Sgt. Amanda Simonsen
JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR HICKAM, Hawaii - Staff Sgt. Amanda Simonsen, 647th Civil Engineer Squadron craftsman, is this week’s Hickam Warrior. “As Commander's Executive I initiated, executed, and tracked squadron evaluations and decorations and suspenses for seven flights, 26 shops, and 500 personnel.” Sergeant Simonsen’s current duty as a construction inspector and project manager for Simplified Acquisition of Base Engineer Requirements (SABER) includes the full responsibility to manage SABER projects during design, construction and final acceptance. “I enjoy meeting and interacting with everyone in the 647th CES,” she said. “I've been able to meet more people in the last 6 months then I did in the first 2 years I've been here. I enjoy being in the Air Force because of the experiences I've had and will have in the future.” Sergeant Simonson is a big fitness enthusiast and enjoys running, lifting weights, hiking, & riding her bicycle. “I love to go out with friends to watch a movie and eat good sushi. Otherwise, I'm hanging out at home with my husband, daughter, dog and cat,” she said. Her favorite thing about being stationed in Hawaii is seeing all the beautiful beaches and new sites.
