Remembering a friend

Durward Swanson, Dec. 7, 1941, Hickam Field survivor, look on the head stone of James E. Strickland at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, or Punchbowl National Cemetery, Nov. 22 during his visit to Hawaii. Swanson visited the base where 70 years ago he survived the sudden attack by the Japanese on Dec. 7, 1941. His friend Strickland was killed that day by a strafing Japanese plane in front of Swanson.
