647th CES, NAVFAC test runway cable system
A F-15 Eagle piloted by a member of the Hawaii Air National Guard's 154th Wing tests a BAK-12 aircraft arrest system May 8 at Honolulu International Airport. The three arrest systems here are maintained by the 647th Civil Engineer Squadron and Navy Facilities Engineering Command and are utilized by the deployment of an arresting hook in the rear of the aircraft as a last resort measure when pilots are unable to stop.
