Airman Medal presentation
Capt. Matt Adams, 647th Air Base Group, was presented the Airman's Medal for heroism involving voluntary risk of life at Nauyaca Waterfalls, Platanillo, Costa Rica, Jan. 1, 2011. On that date, Adams witnessed another officer fall from a 25-foot cliff, landing on the rocks below and hitting his head and back before sinking to the bottom of a pool below the waterfall. With complete disregard for his own safety, he dove from the same cliff and over the boulders below to swim down 20 feet to the bottom of the pool where he located the unconscious victim and transported him to shore.
