Gayleen Lim, 735th Air Mobility Squadron, receives a coin and poses for a photo with Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel May 30, 2013, inside aircraft hangar 19 on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. Hagel spoke to more than 200 service members from U.S. Pacific Command, answered questions from the crowd and gave out coins thanking them for their service. During his short stop in Hawaii he also met with Pacific Command leaders before continuing to Singapore to speak at the Shangri-La Dialogue. As a senator, Hagel co-founded of the Shangri-La Dialogue, which began in 2002. This return visit to the dialogue will be his first as secretary of defense. The annual conference draws defense and security experts from across the Asia-Pacific region. Hagel’s travels will wrap up with a gathering of defense ministers at NATO headquarters in Brussels.
