If you want to keep track of how many calories you consume you can bet there is a phone application for that. Want to see what's playing at the movies? There's an app for that. Need to know the weather? There's an app for that. Want to do some banking? There's an app for that too. And now, If you're wondering what's going on at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam--newsflash--there's an app for that!

myMC2, a mobile application that centralizes community events, organizations and services, is now keeping track of the goings on at JBPH-H and is available for free on Android or iPhone technology.

"The myMC2 app allows our Joint Base family, friends and co-workers to have instantaneous access to social and local events that affect our installation and its people," said Master Sgt. Ray Tuggle, 15th Wing Knowledge Operations Management NCO in charge and JBPH-H myMC2 project officer.

Currently information flows to joint base personnel via At-a-Glance e-mails and Air Force and Navy web sites and Facebook pages; however, with the myMC2 app the information is combined into one easy to access location.

"The overall goal is to reach everyone affiliated with Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, but this technology also allows our organizations to de-conflict calendar events and get key information to interested parties quicker," said Tuggle.

What's better, he said, is myMC2 will bring information right to people's fingertips via their smart phones or tablets rather than making them have to dig for it.

"With the joint base environment and the use of different systems and technologies, centralizing information was a very complex issue," he said. "Looking for information appeared to frustrate a lot of folks so we began a quest to find a way to bridge the gap for everyone and that's when we stumbled upon a pilot program at Scott Air Force Base utilizing the myMC2 app. They were doing the exact thing we were searching for a way do. They had the technology shell that we could build our program from."

Tuggle said after working with the 375th Communication Support Squadron at Scott to get more information about the application and how to set it up, getting 15th Wing leadership approval and support of the program was effortless.

"There are a lot of ways to disseminate information but this is definitely a smarter than harder approach and will solve a lot of the problems we had in the past with getting information out to the masses," he said.

Though myMC2 is managed by the 15th Wing Public Affairs Office with 15 WG KOM support, it will take effort from every unit on base to make the app as useful as possible. Private organizations and units looking to get information out to the base populace or advertise events need look no further than Facebook! The program is set up to link information from Facebook calendar event pages and requires no more than the usual page maintenance and updates to keep the information on the app current.

"At first the app can seem like one more program to check out for info, but it's quite the opposite," said 1st Lt. Jessica Colby, 15th Wing Public Affairs deputy. "This app should eliminate the need to have to check so many places. In reality, the app is a real time saver! It combines information that I would normally have had to visit a number of websites to access."
