JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii --
Col. Johnny Roscoe, 15th Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Leslie Bramlett, 15th WG command chief, hosted a commander's call at the base theater Jan. 23, 2014.
The commander's call began with recognizing the wing quarterly award winners, followed by remarks from Roscoe.
"I want to start out with thanking each and every one of you for what you do," Roscoe said. "And thank you for all the hard work you put into making 2013 a successful year for the Wing. There were some amazing challenges that you had to overcome, and you did with efficiency and outstanding teamwork."
Roscoe said challenges such as sequestration, the government shutdown, an Operational Readiness Inspection, a visit from President Barack Obama and the Wing's response to Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines all contributed to a busy 2013.
"Through all of this, you never took your eye off the ball, and when I talk to your commanders, they tell me about the great things you all do on a daily basis," the Commander said.
Roscoe also highlighted the importance in taking pride in being part of Hickam's heritage.
"Being stationed at Hickam, you are part of a strong Air Force heritage, and you must always keep that in mind," he said.
Bramlett followed Roscoe's comments by also thanking the Wing team members for their teamwork and a job well done.
"What an amazing opportunity to be a part of such an outstanding organization," Bramlett said. "As I look across this room and see the sea of Air Force uniforms, it can't help but to make you feel good about being part of the Air Force. I get a lot of chances to go around and talk to Airmen about what it means to be part of the Air Force, and I always make it a point to highlight the fact that no one joins the Air Force to be alone, and that is evident in this room today. "
Roscoe and Bramlett also took time to highlight outstanding 15th Wing Airmen for individual accomplishments.
