Holiday Decorations: HCH Outlines Lighting Guidance Published Dec. 3, 2007 By Hickam Community Housing HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii -- Hickam Community Housing and communities throughout Oahu are beginning to see the twinkling of holiday lights and displays of the season. Exterior decorative lights are authorized only for the holiday season. Residents are responsible for all damage that is caused as a consequence of lighting installation and/or removal. Lights for the Christmas holiday season may be installed and lighted through Jan. 1, 2008, from 6 to 10 p.m. Residents are required to remove any decorative lights installed at other times of the year. In keeping with our safety and energy reduction goal, authorized lighting times are restricted to the hours between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Two exceptions to this policy are Christmas Eve/Day and New Year's Eve/Day, when lighting restrictions do not apply. All lights must be removed by Jan. 15. Any installation of electrical lighting decorations will be done in a safe and prudent manner using lights, cords and equipment that are approved and rated for exterior use. Lighting installation requirements are found in the Hickam Community Housing resident guide or can be picked up at HCH's offices. Landscaping and Lighting: HCH landscapers will not move decorations or mow within decorative displays. Residents who choose to leave decorations/displays on their front or side lawns are responsible for ensuring their lawns are in compliance with HCH standards.
