HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii -- Senator Daniel Inouye, along with Pacific Air Forces and Hickam AFB senior leadership, participate in the opening ceremony and ribbon cutting of C-17 Fuel Cell Hanger 19, April 14. This $25 million facility is the only hangar in the state of Hawaii specifically designed for C-17 fuel tank maintenance. It will greatly enhance Hickam AFB's capacity to maintain and repair assigned as well as transient aircraft ensuring aircraft availability throughout the Pacific theater. It also provides an enclosed area for fuel cell maintenance which can support multiple airframes not limited to the C-17, KC-135, C-40, C-37, C-130, and KC-10. (U.S. Air Force photo by Vanessa M.
