Lt. Col. Jeffrey G. Pierce assumed command of the 735th Air Mobility Squadron during a change of command ceremony here July 27. Col. Jeffrey G. Mintzlaff, 715th Air Mobility Operations Group commander, presided over the ceremony.

Colonel Pierce came to the 735th AMS in June 2008 and served as the director of operations for 13 months. In his new position as the 73th AMS commander, Colonel Pierce commands over 400 personnel who are responsible for enabling critical airlift of personnel and cargo supporting Global Reach to war fighting forces, component and combatant commanders, and national humanitarian relief assistance agencies.

As he spoke during the ceremony by Hickam AFB's Missing Man Formation, Colonel Pierce praised the members of the 735th AMS for the outstanding cargo/passenger movement, and maintenance/generation of aircraft, supporting all the AMC directed missions through the Pacific region.

"I am extremely honored to be given the opportunity to lead and serve with you, as we provide world class airlift support and achieve the continued successes we Pacific Warriors have come to know," he told the squadron's members.

The 735th AMS Airmen provide Global Reach for many customers. Locally, they directly provide airlift support to the 25th Infantry Division, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Forces, Navy Seals, and a host of other operational and tactical level forces. The 735th AMS also oversees the operations at Detachment 1 Richmond, Australia, and an Operating Location at Christchurch, New Zealand, providing enroute support for the Ice Missions to the South Pole (McMurdo Station).
