A limited supply of H1N1 flumist vaccine has arrived at the 15th Medical Group.

They are now vaccinating the following high risk populations: 1. Persons who live with or provide care for infants less than 6 months of age (e.g. parents, siblings, and daycare providers, both military and dependants); 2. Health Care Workers with direct patient care (both military and civilian); 3. Emergency Medical Service Personnel (Emergency Responders) and; 4. Caregivers of children with chronic disease, to include military personnel as long as they are not deploying in the near future.

They currently do not have injectable H1N1 influenza vaccine, therefore the above individuals cannot have chronic diseases such as asthma, angina, cancer, kidney disease, lung disease, diabetes, heart disease, or history of a heart attack or stroke.

In addition, the clinic does not have the vaccine available for pregnant individuals or those having used steroids or cortisone in last three months. Small batches of injectable vaccine are scheduled to arrive on a weekly basis. However, that is subject to change based on supply quantities. As resupply shipments arrive, the medical group will use several avenues like E-notes and the official Hickam Website to update Team Hickam.

To receive a vaccination, eligible individuals should walk into the Immunizations Clinic during the following hours: Mondays and Fridays from 8 until 11:30 a.m. and 1 through 4 p.m. On Wednesdays from 8 until 11:30 a.m. and 1 through 2 p.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays the clinics hours of operations are from 7:30 until 11:30 a.m. and 1 through 4 p.m. The clinic is closed the third Thursday of the month after 11:30 a.m.
