Commander's guidance on marijuana decriminalization Published Nov. 19, 2012 By Col. Johnny Roscoe !5th Wing Commander JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii -- Recently, Colorado and Washington State decriminalized all uses of marijuana. However, as Airmen in the United States Air Force and members of the 15th Wing, use of marijuana is incompatible with military service regardless of whether you are travelling through or on temporary duty in the states that have decriminalized its use. Furthermore, marijuana use, possession, manufacture, distribution, introduction, importation and exportation are all still prohibited under Article 112a of the UCMJ and Federal laws that criminalize marijuana offenses are still in effect. In the coming days we expect more information on this topic, but I want to ensure that you hear it from me first and are aware of the current state of military law on this issue. Bottom line ... save your career, steer clear.
