15th Maintenance Group honors outstanding performers

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii --  The 15th Maintenance Group held the 3rd Annual Knucklebuster Ceremony March 1 at Hangar 19 here.

The ceremony, which honored the best-of-the-best for 2012, is an internal award program for Hickam maintainers.

"People are our most important asset and our Airmen are being asked to do more with less," said Master Sgt. Tamara Ormond, 15th Maintenance Operations Squadron. "The dedication to our mission might not be seen from an outside agency where the focus is different so internal recognition is very important. The Airmen need to know that supervisors recognize the long hours and the effort they are giving."

Knucklebuster nominees are supervisor selected, and are chosen based solely on duty performance.

"The Knucklebuster Ceremony is our opportunity to recognize those individuals that we turn to on a daily basis to get the toughest jobs done," said Ormond. "These individuals are hard-working, highly dedicated, technically proficient and motivated to ensure our aircraft are healthy and mission capable."

Col. Michael Novotny, 15th Maintenance Group commander, said the winning Knucklebusters set the standard for their fellow maintainers.

"We want them to do their job with pride, passion and professionalism--that's our motto," he said. "If you're doing anything, do it with those three attributes."
