CMSgt Michael M. Haywood is the Command Chief Master
Sergeant of the 15th Wing, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam,
Hawaii. As such, he serves as the principal advisor to the wing
commander on operational and enlisted matters. His
responsibilities include advising the commander on all issues
affecting the mission readiness, health, morale, and welfare
of 7,500 personnel assigned to the host wing and 37 tenant
units, including the 515th Air Mobility Operations Wing,
624th Regional Support Group, 692nd Intelligence,
Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Group, and Headquarters
Pacific Air Forces. The wing supports C-17A, C-37A, F-22A, and
KC-135 operations, while also providing command functions
to operate the airfield at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The
wing, in partnership with the Hawaii Air National Guard and
US Navy, employs Total Force combat and peacetime joint
base support to operations across Hawaii and throughout the
Pacific Theater.
Chief Haywood is from Anchorage, Alaska and enlisted in the
United States Air Force in January 1998. He completed
satellite and wideband communications systems training in
October 1998, and since then has held a variety of positions
in combat communications, base communications, and
intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance units providing
warfighter command and control capability in support of our nation’s requirements. He has been stationed stateside in both
Georgia and California, and he has also served tours overseas in the Republic of Korea, Germany, and the state of Hawaii. He has
deployed to Saudia Arabia, Germany, Italy, Afghanistan, Djibouti and Iraq in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH,
ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. Prior to his current position, the Chief was the Senior Enlisted Leader of the
Directorate of Air & Cyberspace Operations, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii
