15th Wing Honor Guard members raise the U.S. flag at the December 7th Remembrance Ceremony on Hickam Field Dec. 7, 2013. The flag was flown at half- staff in honor of the 190 Airmen and civilians who lost their lives in the 1941 attack on the base. Ford was gifted the flag in recognition of his selfless service during the 1941 attack that claimed the lives of 190 Airmen and civilians. Ford, 88, was only 16 years-old at the time of the attacks and lied about his age to be able to enlist in the service at only 15. “It’s an honor and a privilege to come out and pay our respects to people who have lost their life trying to save others,” Garner said. “I feel it’s important to understand and honor our medical heroes.”

Members of the 15th Medical Group visited the cemetery Dec. 6, 2013, to pay respects to a fallen service member, Cpl. Vincent J.
