Col Harmon, 515 AMOW/CC and Chief Nixon, 515 AMOW/CCC had the amazing opportunity to visit and tour “The Gateway to the Air Force” Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX. Col Harmon as the Reviewing Officer, had the privilege of giving the Oath of Enlistment to 713 of the Air Force’s brand new outstanding Airmen! Aim high airmen we expect great things from you!

Beginning on 9 November 1956, and continuing through December throughout the Suez Crisis, C-121s, C-124s and other airlifters transported over 1500 Colombian, Indian, and Indonesian members of the Suez Canal United Nations peacekeeping force along with some 170 tons of cargo to staging areas in the Middle East. A final contingent of 50 Brazilians arrived in the Middle East early in 1957. The airlift followed Egyptian nationalization of the canal and the subsequent conflict involving Egypt, Israel, France, and Britain
