Eye clinic clears Pacific Airmen's sight
HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii -- Maj. Tara Jayne, 15th Aeromedical-Dental Squadron optometrist, uses a bionauclor indirect ophthalmoscope to detect the diseases caused by macular degeneration. Smoking and over exposure to ultraviolet rays have some of the elements that may cause diseases in the eye. Major Jaybe has spent more than eight years as an optometrist in the Air Force. The only optometrist on Hickam, she has been on five humanitarian trips to the Dominican Republic, Philippines and Thailand during her career. Her next assignment will take her to Ramstein Air Base, Germany. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Mike Meares)
