Hickam Chronicals: Memorialziing our Heroes

Ret. Col. Andrew Kowalski, Hickam Field survivor, and Judie Paranuk, the daughter of Bill Depue, also a Hickam Field survivor, are elated to meet each other as Kowalski reminisces about Paranuk's father at the 70th Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony of the attacks on Hickam Field, Dec. 7, 2011. Paranuk flew from Virginia to honor her late father at the ceremony. She wore a badge with her father's name and photo in hopes that one of the other survivors would recognize him, and Kowalski did. In 1941, Kowalski was the 14th Reconnaissance Squadron first sergeant, and following the attacks, he reported to the Wing building to assist his commander in providing direction and guidance.
