Medal of Honor recipients visit 15th Wing C-17 Globemaster III

Lt. Col. Patrick Winstead, 535th Airlift Squadron commander, talks with Kenneth E. Stumpf, a retired U.S. Army Sergeant Major and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, during a C-17 Globemaster III tour May 14 at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. On April 25, 1967, Stumpf was serving as a Specialst Four in Company C, 1st Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. On that day, near Duc Pho in the Republic of Vietnam, Stumpf rescued three wounded comrades despite heavy fire and single-handedly disabled an enemy bunker, resulting in a promotion to Staff Sergeant and the awarding of the Medal of Honor for his actions in battle.
