Honoring Hickam's heroes
The Hickam Honor Guard fires a three round volley during the 71st anniversary ceremony of the surprise attacks on the Hawaiian Islands during a remembrance ceremony Dec. 7, 2012 at Hickam Field, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. Airmen, families and veterans gathered at Atterbury Circle, the site of same flag pole that stood Dec. 7, 1941, to commemorate the lives and the sacrifices of the men and women who were there on that day. During the attacks, 189 Army Air Forces Airmen and civilians lost their lives and 303 were wounded. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Mike Meares)
